I obtained a Degree in Biotechnology (2021) and a Master's in Biochemistry (2023) from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Beira Interior. My academic journey involved the development of a theoretical project entitled “Pharmacological inhibition of NADPH oxidase isoforms - Impact on the animal model of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis" and, in the last year of the Master's, I completed a dissertation entitled "Modulatory effect of an inhibitor of NADPH oxidases on the expression of a-synuclein and ß-amyloid in an in vivo model of Parkinson's disease". This research focused on the evaluation of abnormal protein deposition, one of the pathological molecular mechanisms of Parkinson's disease with dementia, where a specific inhibitor of a class of enzymes was used and its role was verified to prevent the progression of the disease, especially cognitive decline and dementia. This work was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Ana Clara Braz Cristóvão (PhD) and co-supervised by Mariana Bernardo Fiadeiro (PhD Student). Additionally, in 2023, I completed a specialization course in Performing Procedures on Laboratory Animals, which included both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. This course, organized by the University of Beira Interior and the Portuguese Society of Laboratory Animal Sciences, provided me with essential techniques for working with animal models, especially rodents. As a member of a research team, I contributed to projects that seek solutions for neurodegenerative pathologies that aim to develop new therapeutic solutions for Parkinson's disease ("PDSolve - New therapeutic approach to slow the progression of Parkinson's disease" (CENTRO-01-0247-FEDER-113213). Through my academic training, I actively participated in scientific events and training courses, continuously expanding my knowledge base, and nurturing my scientific curiosity. I have cultivated a versatile and analytical profile, where I have enhanced my laboratory skills. These include working with animal models (especially rodents), performing immunostaining techniques, using microscopy, and handling various biological and chemical samples following with safety rules and good laboratory practices. In addition, I also have several computer skills that include basic skills in Microsoft Office, GraphPad Prism, Mendeley, and Zeiss AxioVision, fundamental programs for the analysis of laboratory results. Currently, I'm a PhD student in Biomedicine.
