Francisco has completed his Integrated Master's Degree in Hydraulics, Water Resources and Environment at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) in 2020. During his Master, Francisco has participated in Erasmus Programme in Polytechnic University of Catalunya (UPC) in Barcelona. After finishing his Integrated Master's Degree, Francisco has integrated the Engineering and Research Area at the Hydraulics and Water Resources Institute (IHRH) from FEUP, developing his engineering, physical and numerical modelling skills. His scientific research focuses on coastal protection structures (low crested and detached breakwaters), coastal erosion, scour phenomena near segmented detached structures, hydro and morphodynamics in sandy beaches, climate change and composite modelling. Francisco has permanently invested some time developing his numerical modelling skills by attending online certificated courses. Thus, Francisco has experience in modelling with Delft3D, Delft3D Flexible Mesh, XBeach, OpenFOAM and Mike21. Regarding post processing tools, Francisco has knowledge using Matlab, Excel and SPSS. With respect to his professional activities, Francisco has been working under several projects entitled of "Risk Characterization Study and Intervention Programme for the Protection of the Ofir's Sandspit and Cávado's river mouth", "Port Loyola Cruise Terminal, Model-based research" and more recently ATLANTIDA - "Platform for the monitoring of the North Atlantic Ocean and tools for the sustainable exploitation of the marine resources". Since february 2021, Francisco started his PhD journey at FEUP which is going to focus on the natural continuity of the experimental and numerical works developed during his Master's Degree. In october 2021, Francisco won a PhD FCT grant. Apart from his PhD journey, Francisco is the President of the Portuguese Young Professionals Network from IAHR since april 2022. Finally, Francisco aims to give positive and right answers to the existing gaps over his scientific research making use of his dynamic and proactive working skills.

2021 - 2021 Project: Port Loyola Cruise Terminal - Model-based research. The main objetive of this work is carrying out an investigation of the natural nearshore and offshore sediment-transport and accumulation based on numerical modelling (Delft3D). A set of numerical models are being developed with available data and inherent limitations in timing and data.
