She graduated in Physics from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto in 1988 and obtained a Master's degree in "Physics of Laser Communications" from the University of Essex, (England-1992). She earned a Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto in 2008. She began her teaching career in 1990 at the Lusíada University, as an Assistant Teacher. After completing her Master's degree (1992), she continued her activity as an Assistant Professor until 2004. She performed various activities and responsibilities, also serving as a member of the scientific-pedagogical council in the last two years (2002-2004). In 1994, she was invited to teach at the Moderna University, where she taught for three years (1994-1997). In 1995, she joined the Physics Department at ISEP as an Assistant Teacher, holding since 2020, the position of Coordinating Professor. Within the scope of her activity at ISEP, in addition to teaching, she has been actively involved in the management and technical and scientific dissemination activities of the Physics Department and ISEP, such as organizing several conferences, lectures, and training sessions. Her teaching experience includes over 40 different curricular units (in the areas of Physics, Instrumentation, Optics and Waves, and Biomechanics. Keeping knowledge up to date and adapting to new challenges, both as a trainer and as a learner, has been developed over time. Guiding or examining students' works at the undergraduate and graduate levels is also a relevant activity, having supervised/examined around 35 undergraduate (Bachelor's degree) and 30 graduate (Master's degree) works and 3 PhD thesis. In the context of her scientific activity, she began as a member of the Optoelectronics and Lasers group at the Physics Center of the University of Porto in 1988, until 1990. In 1990, the R&D group merged into INESC-Norte, where she continued her research activity on Optoelectronics projects until 1994. At this time, due to intense teaching activity, research activity was "suspended" until 1998 when, already as a lecturer at ISEP and a researcher at CIEA, she resumed it. Currently, she develops her research activity in two main areas: Biomechanics and Engineering Education. The interest in the area of Biomechanics and Medical Instrumentation arose naturally during her Ph.D. work (since 2004) and the connection to the research group of INEGI/LOME. The second scientific area of interest, Engineering Education and Remote Experimentation, emerged as a result of the experience and accumulated sensitivity from the laboratory management responsibilities she held (1998-2012), leading to the conceptualization, development, and implementation of the Physics LabFARM project. This project, fully supported by ISEP, consisted of developing remote experiments to support the Physics curricular units of the various study cycles at ISEP, provided by the Physics Department. It was an important project, as it opened up international collaboration opportunities and incorporation into the VISIR consortium. She has participated in 15+ R&D projects, is the author and co-author of over 100 publications in national and international journals, books, and book chapters, co-editor and invited editor of an open-access journal. She is also the author of two national patents. Additionally, she co-supervised a Ph.D. student in Physics Engineering, and currently supervises a Ph.D. student in Occupational Safety and Health (FEUP), and co-supervises an international student from Universidad de la República - Uruguay. Currently, she is the Vice-President of the Technical-Scientific Council of ISEP, a member of the Executive Committee of the VISIR Federation (part of the IAOE), coordinator and technical manager of the Smart-Health-4-All project, within the partners ISEP and INEGI, and a member of the organizing committee of two conferences - EDUCON 2020 and CNB 2021 - in the last 3 years.

Their potential to aid students beyond their hands-on lab classes has been a matter of discussion in literature. Teachers and researchers are aware that the thorough analysis of both strengths and shortcomings of remote labs in didactical implementations may not only lead to the improvement of these (2018): http://hdl.handle.net/10400.22/13495.

  14. Biomechanical Characterization of Comfort Footwear using Gait Analysis. Comfort footwear has unique characteristics fundamental to people looking for this type of shoe, namely foot support, flexibility, stability, lightweight, cushioning, traction, etc. [1]. They are usually preferred mainly by elder, overweighed or people with feet problems [2]. It is known that the shoe can modify gait behavior [3]. The purpose of this study was to evaluate posture and gait by compa. 2015. This paper reflects the result of a drawn challenge of enhancing the discussion related to the problematic of how to ease the transition of young engineers from academia to professional life. How can students be better prepared to face the actual demands? Can we identify some particular issues that need more attention? How can the linkage between academia and companies be strengthened? 21. VISIR: experiences and challenges. It is of crucial importance the integration of practical sessions in engineering curricula owing to their significant role in understanding engineering concepts and scientific phenomena. However, the lack of practical sessions due to the high costs of the equipment and the unavailability of instructors has caused a significant declination in experimentation in engineering education.
