Bachelor's degree in Equipment Design from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon in 2002 and Master's degree in Conception Engineering from the Instituto Superior Técnico in 2007. I have been working professionally as a communication designer and product designer. I have additional training in 3D Modeling, New Materials, Computer-Aided Manufacturing and CNC technologies. From 1995 to 2012, I collaborated with the designer António Girão in communication design and illustration activities. Initially responsible for finalizing artworks through computer means, I later progressed to greater creative autonomy. In 2001, I co-founded the company "Tiago Girão – Design Studio, Lda" with António Girão, where I have been working on communication design and product design projects. Some of my equipment design works have been recognized and awarded by various institutions (ICEP, FLAD, CPAI, CPD, and Aveiro City Hall) and selected for joint exhibitions in Portugal and abroad. Alongside my business activities, I taught at the Professional School of Image (EPI-ETIC) in the Equipment Design professional course from 2001 to 2004. Since 2010, I have been a guest assistant at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon and, since 2015, as associate professor at the School of Applied Arts of Castelo Branco Polytechnic Institute. In the course of my professional and academic work, I have been invited to publish articles for conferences, describing and analyzing the implementation of prototyping in the development of my projects.
