I am currently a research fellow in the Air Quality research area at the Center for Nuclear Sciences and Technologies (C2TN) / Instituto Superior Técnico. I graduated in Biomedical Laboratory Sciences in 2019, at ESTeSL, Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa (IPL), and obtained my MSc degree in Medical Microbiology in 2022 by Instituto de Higiene e Medicina Tropical (IHMT), Universidade NOVA de Lisboa. My research work as a BSc student involved the analysis of antagonistic activity of kefir, a fermented dairy product, against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) as a prospective alternative of using probiotics against pathogenic bacteria. As a master's student my research work focuses on Staphylococcus aureus associated with skin and soft tissue infections in humans and pets aiming the screening for virulence traits. Throughout my academic journey, I participated in educational and awareness activities at Futuralia, targeting college-aged individuals, for HPV prevention and vaccination promotion. Similarly, I contributed at Hospital da Bonecada in an initiative aiming to help children feel safe and comforted during medical tests, with activities about blood sample collection procedures and the importance of clinical microbiology. After my degree and as a young researcher I worked as a research fellow in the Environment & Health research area at the Health and Technology Research Center/ Escola Superior de Tecnologia da Saúde de Lisboa (ESTeSL). I received 3 research fellowships, through the projects "IPL Momento Zero Assegurar A Retoma Letiva Em Pandemia COVID19" and "COVID management and acquired immunity assessment in the IPL community" funded by Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa, and "Intervenção Em Saúde Ocupacional: Resposta Integrada Na Pandemia COVID19" funded by Camara Municipal de Lisboa (CML). I was a scientific/technical coordinator in 4 massive screening tests initiatives for diagnostic of SARS-CoV-2 infections. During these screening initiatives, I supervised 14 BSc students. I presented 2 oral communications in "Integration Seminar Course in Laboratory Biomedical Sciences" of the Laboratory Biomedical Sciences course. The oral communications, targeting BSc first year students, had a focus on empowering and mentoring students about opportunities in the research field. I also participated as a team member in the funded project "Occupational biomonitoring study on hexavalent chromium and other harmful chemicals" where I contributed performing the biological samples collection. To date, I authored/co-authored 5 peer-reviewed publications and 1 book chapter. I published 5 posters, 1 at national conference and 4 at international conferences.
