My name is Álvaro Torrinha and I have a graduation and a master degree in Chemical Engineering at Superior Institute of Engineering
of Porto (ISEP). After a period working in the chemical industry, in 2015 I began my PhD studies in Sustainable Chemistry
at Faculty of Pharmacy of University of Porto, being concluded in July of 2019. Between September of 2019 and June 2023 I
have been supported by REQUIMTE-LAQV funds as a Post-Doc researcher, integrating a project consisting in the development of
electrochemical (bio)sensors for pharmaceuticals detection with the research being conducted at ISEP. Briefly, I am (co)author
of 22 indexed papers, 2 book chapter and 15 communications in national and international conferences and won 2 academic merit
scholarships. I am also editor on a Topical Collection from Sensors journal: "Sensors and Biosensors for Environmental and
Food Applications" (URL: https://www.mdpi.com/journal/sensors/special_issues/Sensors_Environmental_Food). During Post-Doc,
I started to supervise PhD and master students (10 finished and 5 ongoing) as well as began teaching activities. Currently
I have a research contract resulting from a successful application to the Individual Call to Scientific Employment Stimulus
(2022), performing research activities centred on developping novel electrochemicl sensors for contaminants of emerging oncern
present in environmental samples.
