João Lemos (PhD, University of Porto, 2015) is an appointed research fellow at NOVA University of Lisbon, where he also coordinates the Lisbon Kant Group. He has been developing research on beauty at the intersection of philosophical aesthetics, philosophy of art, ethics, and politics, within a Kantian framework. Lemos is particularly interested in the significance of beauty in contemporary aesthetics and arts and its ethical and political meaning and value. Among his main publications, one counts: Lemos, J., 'Kant and Recent Philosophies of Art', Kantian Review, 26 (2021) 4: 567-582; Lemos, J. (ed.), "Kant's Aesthetic Theory", a special issue of Con-Textos Kantianos, 12 (2020); and Lemos, J., 'Moral Aspects' Aesthetic Relevance', in V. Moura & C. Vaughan (ed.), Proceedings of the European Society for Aesthetics, 12: 84-99. Lemos has academic and research stays at the University of Cambridge (2019), São Paulo State University (2017-18), and NYU (2017, under the support of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States of America and the Fulbright Commission). He has taught in the areas of aesthetics, ethics, political philosophy, methodology of the philosophical work, and philosophical anthropology at NOVA University of Lisbon (2020-23), University of Porto (2016-17), Portuguese Catholic University (2016-17), and Porto Hospital Center (2010-18).
