Eric Font is an Assistant Professor of the Department of Earth Sciences of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra, and researcher of the Institute Dom Luís at the University of Lisbon, Portugal. He obtained his PhD in Geophysics and Geosciences in 2005 at the University of São Paulo (Brazil) and Toulouse (France). His main area of research expertise is paleo- and environmental magnetism coupled to other geological tools (chemostratigraphy, mineralogy, scanning electron microscopy). His research has focused on miscellaneous geoscience challenges such timing and duration of the snowball Earth aftermath, large-scale remagnetization and their link with tectonic events, environmental magnetism applied to Tsunami deposits, magnetic signature of marine sediments during the Deccan Traps activity, the Central Atlantic Magmatic Province and correlation with the Triassic-Jurassic boundary and high frequency instability of the Earth’s magnetic field and climate in speleothems.
