António Lúcio Baptista is a Medical Specialist in Cardiothoracic Surgery with large experience in vascular deseases. Graduated in Medicine and Surgery from Faculty of Medicine of Porto University, he divided is clinical experience between Portugal and South Africa, where he worked at Cardiothoracic Surgery Department of the Group of Teaching Hospitals at the University of the Witwatersrand, in Johannesburg. He was a lecturer at Faculty of Medicine of Porto University and is currently a Consultant on the International platform Fibrenamics, from Minho University, and Director and Lecturer of the phlebology and lymphatic pathology module of the postgraduate course at the University of Alcalá, in Madrid. During his career, he has developed new surgical techniques, published multiple scientific studies and participated as a speaker in numerous national and international events. He has also developed and presented a new program dedicated to the advanced treatment of varicose veins. Currently, he is working in his project LaserNavi, finalist of the Kuka Innovation Award 2019, in partnership with the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave (IPCA) and Minho University. The project is developing a collaborative robot for laser treatment on specific vascular lesions. António Lúcio Baptista is also founder and Emeritus President of ALTEC - Association of Laser Therapy and Related Technologies - and Emeritus member of the executive council of ELA -European Laser Association. He is founder and CEO of Iberia Advanced Health Care, a scientific and technological innovation platform. Antonio Baptista is autor of the books ‘Innovation for Change’ and ‘The Place for Utopia’.
