Dr. Liliana Fernandes completed her academic journey at the University of Minho, Portugal, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Physics (2013), a Master’s in Biophysics and Bionanosystems (2017), and a Ph.D. in Materials Engineering (2024). Her research career began in 2015 at the Centre of Physics, where her thesis focused on synthesizing and characterizing functionalized nanoparticles for biomedical applications. In 2017, she participated in a start-up initiative to develop hybrid membranes for water decontamination. From 2017 to 2019, she worked at BCMaterials in Spain, developing magnetic ionic liquid/polymer composites for sensors and actuators. Returning to the University of Minho in 2024, she contributed to the 3D BATADEL project, advancing 3D-printed battery technologies. Currently, she is a postdoctoral researcher on the NGS project, driving the creation of a technological ecosystem to enhance the national battery industry’s global competitiveness. Over her career, Dr. Fernandes has published numerous scientific papers and book chapters on innovative materials, including thin films and composites, and has actively presented her work at national and international conferences.
