Carina Pinto

Carina Pinto holds a Ph.D. in Psycholinguistics from the University of Lisbon (2017), a Master's degree in Neuroscience from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (2009), and a Bachelor's degree in Speech and Language Therapy from the Escola Superior de Saúde do Alcoitão (2006). She has developed clinical practice in schools and private clinics in the Lisbon region and the Silver Coast region, focusing on language disorders (oral and written). She has been an Adjunct Professor at the Polytechnic University of Leiria since 2011 and at the Polytechnic University of Setúbal since 2024, teaching in the Speech and Language Therapy undergraduate programs at both institutions and in the Master's Program in Speech and Language Therapy at the School of Health of the Polytechnic University of Setúbal. Throughout her career, she has conducted research in the field of Portuguese lexicon and morphology, both in children and adults. She is a researcher at the Center for Innovative Care and Health Technology of the Polytechnic University of Leiria, and at the Linguistic Center of university of Lisbon, and co-founder of Word Lab (2019), a virtual platform aimed at promoting interaction among researchers dedicated to word processing studies. In 2024, Word Lab became a physical center headquartered in Caldas da Rainha. Her publications include books and scientific articles, and she has also delivered numerous presentations at international and national conferences. She was a member of the Board of the Portuguese Society of Speech Therapy from 2020 to 2023 and is currently a member of the Innovation and Development Committee of the same society.
