Diogo Gonçalves is a physical chemist whose research focuses on astrobiology. He earned his PhD in Chemistry from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) in 2025, following an undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering (2017). He also holds two MSc degrees: one in Bioengineering and Nanosystems (2020) and another in Chemistry (2021). Gonçalves has conducted international research as a visiting researcher at the Freie Universität Berlin (2022) and at the Institut de Chimie de Nice, Université Côte d’Azur (2023). During these research stays, he contributed to the detection of prebiotic molecules on Titan, Saturn’s largest moon. His current research focuses on applying physical chemistry approaches to problems in planetary geochemistry, particularly those related to the origin of life on Earth and Mars.
