Cristiana Alves is a materials scientist with experience in thin films/coatings and advanced electron microscopy. Expertise in the development of multifunctional nanostructured materials produced by physical vapor deposition methods (DC Magnetron Sputtering) and anodization process. Extensive knowledge in material science and engineering, with an emphasis in advanced characterization using (scanning) transmission electron microscopy. Experience in aberration-corrected machines, both probe, and image corrected for imaging and spectroscopy. Advanced materials characterization, including: Phase composition by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron diffraction; Chemical composition by XPS, EDS, and EELS; Morphological characterization by scanning and transmission electron microscopy; and Electrochemical properties by potentiodynamic curves and EIS. The well-received and recognized research practices of Cristiana translate in 15 peer-reviewed papers (+1 under revision), an incidence of 1.7 papers/year, and an average impact factor of 6.3 resulting in more than 270 citations and an h-index of 9 (Google Scholar Nov/2022). From WoK, 93% of the papers were published in Q1 journals and she is the first and corresponding author of 53% of the papers. The results of her work were presented in 20 national and international conferences including 1 invited, 9 oral presentations, and she is a co-author in more than 20 scientific meetings, also evidencing her scientific leadership and teamwork. Cristiana's current main interest is to foster knowledge-driven solutions to green energy and climate change, in particular Li-ion batteries, for global societal challenges, which is of great interest for the academic and industrial sectors with clear impact towards the industrial development, with ecological, health and economic implications, creating eco-innovative materials. It is well known how climate change is a global problem affecting the population. Finding adequate solutions to prevent climate change is one of her main motivations.
