Pedro Prates is Professor Auxiliar at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Aveiro, in the subarea of Applied and Computational Mechanics. He completed a PhD in Mechanical Engineering in 2014 at the University of Coimbra, an Integrated Master in Mechanical Engineering in 2010 from the University of Coimbra, and a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2007 from the Abrantes Higher School of Technology (Tomar Polytechnic Institute). He is an Integrated Researcher at the Center for Mechanical Technology and Automation (TEMA) R&D unit and a collaborator at Center for Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Processes (CEMMPRE) R&D unit. The work developed resulted in more than 90 publications, including 40+ publications in international journals. He is a guest editor in one international journal and participated in the peer-review activities of 25+ international journals. He participates in the supervision of 3 doctoral theses and participated in the supervision in 40+ master's dissertations. He received 4 awards and / or honors. He was a Principal Investigator in 1 national project, and participates as a Researcher in 7 national FCT-funded projects and 3 EU-funded projects.
