I have recently finished my PhD (2024) in Health Sciences in the area of Biomedical Sciences from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra, and I am an integrated member of the Coimbra Institute for Biomedical Imaging and Translational Research (CIBIT-UC). My PhD thesis was done in the scope of cognitive neuroscience with the title "Neural complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus and its relation with age-related changes and Alzheimer's disease: A study with functional and structural magnetic resonance imaging." I have a master's degree in Neuropsychology (2014) from Universidade Católica Portuguesa and a graduation in Psychology (2008) from the Universidade de Évora. My master's degree thesis was done in the scope of cognitive neuropsychology ("The nature of verbal chunking: the semantic and syntactic gist in working memory"). I am also an effective member of Ordem dos Psicólogos Portugueses (OPP). My collaboration as a research fellow in research projects has started in 2012, having published several papers in the scope of Aging, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, as well as with the normative population. I have also collaborated with the Movement Disorders consultation from the Neurology department of Coimbra University Hospital, working on the neuropsychological assessment for the deep brain stimulation surgery admission and respective follow-up. I have vast experience in neuroimage data processing and statistical analysis, as well as establishing and performing neuropsychological protocols for research projects. I have tutored both master's and doctoral students through short-duration research training programs regarding neuroimaging and cognitive assessment. I have also actively contribute to CIBIT's science communication initiatives, particularly in science outreach programs in elementary schools.
