Badr-Edine Sadoq is a research scientist with a multidisciplinary background spanning biology, biotechnology, and environmental science. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Applied Biological Science and Health from the Faculty of Sciences and Technologies, Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University (Fez, Morocco), and a Master's degree in Biology and Materials of the Oral Environment from the Faculty of Dental Medicine, Mohammed V University (Rabat, Morocco). In 2023, both degrees were officially recognized by the University of Algarve (Portugal) as equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a Master's degree in Biotechnology, respectively, in accordance with the Portuguese academic recognition system. Throughout his academic training, Badr acquired a solid foundation in molecular biology and microbiology, with hands-on experience in DNA extraction, PCR amplification, and gel electrophoresis, skills honed during his BSc thesis at the Laboratory of Medical Genetics and Oncogenetics at CHU (University Hospital Center, Morocco). During his MSc studies, he deepened his expertise in bioinformatics, focusing on molecular docking, protein structure modeling, active site prediction, and high-throughput virtual screening. Following his MSc, Badr broadened his research experience through two internships. At the International University of Rabat, he contributed to the development of a patented device for dip-coating in thin-film deposition, registered with the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC). He later joined the Comparative Endocrinology and Integrative Biology (CEIB) group at the Centre of Marine Sciences (CCMAR), University of Algarve, through the Erasmus+ program (European Alliances 2022/2023). There, he independently conducted physicochemical characterization of nanoparticles using UV-Vis spectroscopy, FTIR, and Zeta Potential analysis, as well as microbiological testing of antimicrobial properties. His work also included biosafety assessment through cell culture techniques. Recently, Badr was selected for the CCMAR/seaCLEAN fellowship, focusing on environmental chemistry and pollution monitoring. His work involves sampling and analyzing water, sediment, and salt to study physicochemical parameters, microplastics, trace elements, and microbial diversity, contributing directly to sustainable environmental practices. Badr’s scientific path is guided by a strong commitment to sustainability and interdisciplinary collaboration. His work bridges experimental and computational approaches to address environmental and biological challenges with real-world relevance. He has contributed to the academic community through 9 peer-reviewed publications and 5 international conference presentations, reflecting both the depth and breadth of his research experience.
