I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança in 2014 and my master’s degree in Biomedical Technology (Instrumentation and Medical Signs Field) at the same institution in 2016. Between 2016 and 2018, I worked as a research fellow at the University of Aveiro, in a project, funded by FAPESP/19793/2014, regarding the optimization and scale-up of novel ionic- liquid-based purification processes for a recombinant green fluorescent protein produced by Escherichia coli. During this fellowship, I also studied the solid-liquid equilibria of mixtures involving natural compounds. In October of 2018, I started my Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Aveiro, funded by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT) through a Ph.D. scholarship. During the Ph.D., I had the opportunity to broaden my scientific skill abroad for six months, as visiting researcher at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia. During this internship, my focus was the development of a new system based on membranes with the incorporation of encapsulated ionic liquids to be used for post-combustion gas separation on a continuous cycle. My research interest has been focused on applied thermodynamics, including the physicochemical characterization of non-conventional solvents as ionic liquids, deep eutectic solvents, and terpenes, for the development or improvement of new products, chemical processes, and gas capture – separation and sequestration from post-combustion. For these applications, I have been interested in developing or optimizing innovative technologies such as membrane technology and combining the technology with neoteric solvents. For that, the work I developed investigates the solid-liquid phase equilibria, thermophysical properties, environmental impact, and the mechanisms of action of these solvents, once they are important characteristics for biorefinery on which these compounds may play an important role given their interesting applications. I have been published 26 articles in international peer-reviewed multidisciplinary high-impact journals with +629 citations (h-index= 13), according to the Scopus database. Moreover, he has contributed with more than 25 oral and poster communications in international conferences and meetings.
