Dr Antonio J. Paleo is Assistant Researcher at Centre for Textile Science and Technology (2C2T), in the School of Engineering of University of Minho from October 2021. Since his early days as a postdoctoral researcher at this Centre, he is focusing on smart polymers and textiles for energy harvesting and storage. Specifically, the objective is to understand the behavior of carbon materials and transition metal oxides once they are incorporated into textiles by studying their electrochemical and electrical properties of the final compounds. Within the topic of textiles as electrodes for electrochemical devices, this time at 2C2T has served to strengthen the collaboration with different academic groups, such as the teams led by Dr F. Lufrano of the CNR-ITAE, Istituto di Tecnologie Avanzate per l’Energia “Nicola Giordano”, Messina, (Italy), and Dr J.M. González-Domínguez of the Instituto de Carboquímica (ICB-CSIC), Zaragoza, (Spain). Dr Paleo is part of the team in charge of WP3-EnerTex as part of the recovery and resilience plan (PRR) project ‘GreenAuto - Green Innovation for the Automotive Industry’, which aims to develop efficient photovoltaic cells on textiles, with a granted worth €500,000 of public funding sources. He is co-author of 1 book chapters, over 30 articles (Scopus h-index of 13, 618 citations), and has authored/co-authored more than 30 oral communications and 28 panel presentations at national and international scientific congresses. He is currently supervising 1 PhD, 2 master, and he has already co-supervised graduation project of 1 bachelor students.
