Researcher in the Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Georesources (DECivil) of Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), within CERIS research unit (Civil Engineering Research and Innovation for Sustainability). His main research interests focus on the characterisation and conservation of modern and historical building materials, as well as on the development and analysis of compatible, effective and durable products (i.e. mortars) and coatings for the Built Environment. He has been dealing for over a decade with nanotechnologies applied to material and building engineering, often in collaboration with the National Laboratory for Civil Engineering (LNEC, Lisbon, Portugal). He is currently involved in the project WGB_Shield - Shielding building facades for cities revitalisation. He obtained his degree in Chemistry at Cá Foscari University (Italy, 2009) and his Ph.D. at Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands, 2017). He published around 20 peer-reviewed article and presented in around 30 national and international seminars and conferences. He actively participated in 9 research projects and he was awarded with the Monumenten-studieprijs (WTA NL-FL - Scientific-Technical group for Recommendations on building renovation and monument conservation) in 2018.
