Gonçalo Portela completed, in 2022, the Integrated Master¿s in Veterinary Medicine at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Lusófona University, obtaining an average of 15 points (15/20) and a score of 20 points (20/20), unanimously, in the public defence of the master's dissertation. He is currently working as a Project Officer at the Federation of Veterinarians of Europe (FVE), being responsible for the planning, execution, and completion of FVE projects, while also working on projects funded by the European Union such as JAMRAI and AVANT. He's developing his PhD research at CECAV - UTAD and collaborates with the Laboratory of Histopathology and Clinical Analysis of FMV-ULusófona. He previously worked as a veterinarian at ExoticVets, being responsible for the Scientific Research Department. He was a representative of National and International Associations, as Vice-President and President of the Student Association of Veterinary Medicine of FMV-ULusófona and President of the Academic Federation of Veterinary Medicine (FAMV), representative body of the Academic Associations and Student Structures of the Schools of Veterinary Medicine in Portugal. He worked as a scholarship holder at the FMV-ULusófona Veterinary School Hospital. His curricular internship took place at ExoticVets, and he subsequently received an invitation to join the team. He previously worked as an Environmental Educator at the Lisbon Zoo Pedagogical Centre. He is currently a member of the Portuguese Society of Microbiology, the Spanish Society for Virology, and the Association of Avian Veterinarians. He participates as a researcher in 6 projects. He has 3 scientific publications, 8 posters, and 7 oral communications in national and international conferences, having received 1 distinction in the XVIII International Veterinary Congress Montenegro. During his career, he has organised 9 events and participated in 28. His main fields of interest are related to ornithology, molecular biology, virology, conservation medicine and epidemiology.
