Since obtaining her Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon in 2019, Rute Martins has been a dedicated researcher specializing in Social-Ecological Systems, Ecosystem Services, and Environmental Assessment. Since 2021, she has been serving as a Science Manager at CiTUA—Center for Innovation in Territory, Urbanism, and Architecture at IST-University of Lisbon, and joined CiTUA's Board in 2024. She plays a key role in shaping innovative solutions and contributes to national and international R&D projects, focusing on territorial planning, sustainability, resilient communities, curriculum development, teaching methodologies, and risk reduction strategies. Her expertise extends to project management, including securing funding, crafting budgets, completing proposal forms, and navigating the submission process for programs such as Horizon Europe, Horizon 2020, Interreg, DUT, Biodiversa+, LIFE+, ERASMUS+, ETI Raw Materials, and FCT. In recent years, she has also been actively engaged in research and training in AI, particularly in its applications to grant writing and proposal evaluation. Additionally, Rute Martins brings valuable experience as a teaching assistant, further enriching her multidisciplinary approach to academia and research.
