Fábio Rúben Monteiro Conde is an Invited Assistant Professor at NOVA School of Science and Technology (FCT NOVA) since September 2023. He obtained both his M.Sc. degree (October 2017, Best Student Award) and Ph.D. degree (May 2023) from FCT NOVA. His expertise lies in Structural and Computational Mechanics, with a strong focus on topology optimization. His research centers on the computational design of structures and microstructures with enhanced mechanical and thermo-mechanical performance, including stiffness and strength, as well as tailored response characteristics. In a relatively short academic career, he has already established a solid research profile, evidenced by the following achievements: 1) Participation as a researcher in 2 funded research projects; 2) Publication of 11 articles in peer-reviewed international journals; 3) Presentation of his work at 8 international conferences; 4) Membership of the editorial board of the journal Advances in Engineering Software; 5) Contribution to the peer-review process through the review of 11 scientific manuscripts; 6) Involvement in the organization of 2 international conferences, EngOpt 2018 and ECCOMAS 2024; and 7) Receipt of an award for excellence for his scientific contribution at the COMUS17 – ECCOMAS Thematic Conference. He also has teaching experience in structural and computational mechanics, having supervised eight M.Sc. students to completion, and has served as a member of the examination committees for five M.Sc. theses.
