Catarina Almeida Ferreira completed her Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra in 2017, followed by a Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Coimbra in 2019. During the year 2022, she worked as a Quality Control Technician at the pharmaceutical company Farmalabor. Currently, she is a doctoral student in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Coimbra and holds a research scholarship at the Center for Biomedicine and Biotechnology Innovation (CIBB) of the University of Coimbra, funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology. In her scientific career, Oncobiology is her main focus, particularly the study of the effects of treatment with cold atmospheric plasma (CAP), a recent and promising therapeutic approach for cancer, on breast cancer cell lines. She also investigates the cellular mechanisms underlying treatment and the selectivity of CAP for tumor cells. She is a co-author of 4 scientific articles, 3 of which are related to her scientific work with CAP, and has participated in various national and international congresses.
