Andreia Meixedo holds a Master in Structural Engineering (2012) and a PhD in Civil Engineering (2021), both from the University of Porto. During her PhD, she made two internships, one at the University of California in San Diego (UCSD), USA, with Professor Michael D. Todd, specialist in Structural Health Monitoring Using Statistical Pattern Recognition, and another at the National Laboratory of Civil Engineering (LNEC) in Lisbon, Portugal. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), and an Integrated Member of the Institute of R&D in Structures and Construction (CONSTRUCT). In 2023, A. Meixedo ranked 4th (out of 51 applicants) in the CEEC - 6th Edition Junior Researcher individual call in the panel of Civil and Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Systems (9/10), assuring her a 6-year research contract to work on AI-based algorithms and digital technologies for smart condition assessment of railway bridges. Her main research interests are related to data analytics, machine learning, damage identification, structural health monitoring, remote inspection, computer vision, digital railways, railway infrastructures, advanced models for analysis of the bridge-track-train dynamic interaction, structural testing and experimentation, model updating and validation. Andreia Meixedo was researcher in 12 R&D projects funded by the industry, FCT and EU programs in the field of railway infrastructures. Author of more than 80 scientific publications, including 21 international journal papers, 48 articles in international and national conferences, 8 international book chapters; editor of 6 books; and regular reviewer of 6 indexed journals (largely Q1 indexed). In 2024, A. Meixedo together with other researchers from FEUP and ISEP submitted a Provisional Patent Application (nº 119466) on «Intelligent Wayside Monitoring System for Automatic Train Wheel Condition and Vehicle Instability». A. Meixedo was awarded with the 11th edition of Ferry Borges prize (2022), Professor Joaquim Sarmento Prize (2021) for the best civil engineering PhD thesis and 2nd place of the Prize Inovação Jovem Engenheiro 2023", promoted by Ordem dos Engenheiros - Região Sul.
