Vanda Acácio is a forest engineer and a researcher at Centre for Applied Ecology / Research Network in Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology (CEABN-InBIO), School of Agriculture - University of Lisbon (ISA-UL), Portugal. VA has a PhD in forest ecology and management from Wageningen University, The Netherlands. She has authored peer-reviewed publications in high impact journals and participated in more than 14 national and international research projects. Her research focuses on the study of resilience, patterns and processes of change of Mediterranean oak ecosystems, in particular cork oak ecosystems, at the landscape and the plant community scales. She has also worked as consultant in private companies in the areas of forest management, forest certification, and forest fire prevention.
