I am a biologist graduated from the University of Minho, with a master's degree in Applied Ecology at the University of Aveiro my master's thesis: "From seed to sapling - effects of the plant community, soil cover and fire in the recruitment and establishment of maritime pine" has the main objective is to study the biotic and abiotic factors that influence the spontaneous regeneration of Pinus pinaster after disturbance, focusing on fire. Also, I was a research fellow in the project: "SusPire: a tool towards sustainable management of Pinus pinaster (Ait.) forests based on the prediction of spontaneous regeneration", where I had the opportunity to work with germination and stress essays in Pinus pinaster. I cooperate with a European Facing Fire Project where I made an International Intensive Course "Service-Learning Projects In Wildfire Management" and an internship in Xunta da Galicia. Past year, I went to Italy for an Internship at Florence University in the MedStar project, where I worked on the design of a forest fire risk map and on biodiversity conservation in Mediterranean ecosystems. There, I had the opportunity to increase my knowledge about remote sensing, GIS, mapping, and spatial data applied to forest conservation. Also past year, I have been part of the production of a guide on biodiversity in pine forest for CentroPinus. Currently I am enrroled on the PhD program on Biology, Ecology and Global Changes and I am a grant holder in the project "ModelEco - Modeling ecosystem fluxes with time-since-wildfire from remotely sensed vegetation indices and meteorological data". In addition to my academic experience, I also searched for volunteer programs and workshops in several areas, such as forest management, silviculture, monitoring of plant species, and ecological restoration in order to increase my skills.
