Zlatina Genisheva finished Food Engineering from the University of Food Technologies, Plovdiv, Bulgaria. She finished a Master Course in Bioprocess Engineering from the University of Minho, Braga, Portugal. During that time she also took part of tree international projects, where her main work was to identify and quantify aromatic compounds using chromatography methods. Later she finished PhD in Biological and Chemical Engineering from the University of Minho, Braga, Portugal. After that she worked as a post-doctoral fellow in three different projects. Currently she is a Senior researcher from the CVR-Centro para a Valorização de Resíduos. She published 51 articles all in Q1 an Q2 ranking, one in top 5% and five book chapter. She presented her work in 40 international congresses. During her master and PhD she worked with wine fermentations and authenticity of grape varieties by studying their aroma profile. During this time she worked with analytical methods like gas and liquid chromatography. In the post-doctorate she started working with extraction methods in search of a greener methods of extractions like microwave, ultrasound and ohmic heating. In the last project (Nanoxypack), her focus was on the characterization and evaluation of new active food packaging containing metal nanoparticles. Zlatina was invited researcher in the Universidad Autónoma Agraria Antonio Narro, México, where she was also a supervisor of one master student. She was jury in the presentations of 11 master theses and two PhD theses. She is a reviewer for various international scientific journals like Food Chemistry, Microchemical Journal, Industrial Crops and Products and others. Zlatina is a member of the Editorial board of the journal Foods.
