Joana is researcher at the Group on Artificial Intelligence for People and Society (GAIPS) in the area of Human-Robot Interaction, where she explores the intersection of human-robot interaction, physiological computing, and AI-driven assistive technologies. She holds a BSc degree in Biomedical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, and a MSc degree in Biomedical Engineering from Technische Universität Wien. Currently, she is pursuing a PhD in Computer Science and Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico, under the supervision of Prof. Joana Campos (INESC-ID) and Dr. Filipa Correia (ITI/LARSys). Her research aims to push the boundaries of HCI, assistive robotics, and digital health, ensuring technology is empowering for diverse user needs.
