Ana Camacho is an FCT-funded researcher at the University of Porto. She conducts research on writing, academic motivation, and social and emotional learning in school-aged and university students. Camacho holds a Ph.D. degree in Psychology from University of Porto since 2022. Her doctoral project (2017-2021) was funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT, SFRH/BD/116281/2016) and focused on the contribution of motivation to writing performance in school-aged students. Recently, Camacho's project was the highest-ranking application in the Education panel of the 6th FCT Individual Call for Stimulus of Scientific Employment for early career researchers (2023.05958.CEECIND). Camacho intends to push the writing research field forward by testing interventions to enhance students' writing motivation and performance, disseminating evidence-based practices to teachers, and employing longitudinal research designs and single-case experimental designs. She published articles on writing and academic motivation in top-tier journals, namely Contemporary Educational Psychology, Educational Psychology Review, Learning & Individual Differences, Reading & Writing, and British Journal of Educational Psychology. She has invested in specific training (e.g., systematic review, meta-analysis, structural equation modeling, quality criteria in qualitative research, open science practices, academic networking, science dissemination). Camacho participated as a team member in several internationally and nationally funded research projects in the field of education (e.g., ISOTIS and CARE projects funded by the European Commission; DAAR project funded by the FCT; Schools 2030 Program led by the Aga Khan Foundation and funded by a consortium of foundations; Mind-Body Interactions in Writing funded by the BIAL Foundation). Camacho was the Chair of the JURE 2022 International Conference of the European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction. She was awarded the Jacobs Foundation Travel Award (2019) and the Jacobs Foundation Presenter Award (2021). She has successfully applied to travel grants to perform research stays in reading and writing research centers at the University of Padova (Italy), Klaipeda University (Lithuania), and Ghent University (Belgium). She also received a competitive JURE mentoring grant (2020) to perform a research stay at the University of Ghent. Camacho actively serves as an ad-hoc reviewer in high-impact journals. She currently is the supervisor/co-supervisor of five master's students. She has presented more than 30 communications across scientific conferences and initiatives designed for practitioners. Previously, Camacho was a research assistant at ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon, invited assistant professor at Universidade Católica Portuguesa, and invited assistant professor at Polytechnic of Porto. At the University of Porto, she has taught courses on Academic Writing, Dyslexia and Dyscalculia, Methods and Epistemology in Psychology Research, Clinical Assessment of Children and Adolescents, and Educational Psychology. Ana Camacho is committed to high-quality educational research that informs evidence-based writing instruction and contributes to students' educational attainment.
