As a scientist of the past, my research focuses on human lifestyle (diet, health and activity) as resulting from complex interactions between socio-cultural systems and environment. Mine is an early vocation. I started to participate in archaeological fieldwork since I was 17 and in conference presentations since 2nd undergraduate year. I have worked on paleopathology and paleodiet research on Iberian and Scandinavian archaeological material. My research mainly concerns necropoleis from Galicia (NW Spain), from where I am currently the curator of the majority of human remains. But I am also studying collections from other areas of Spain, Finland, Sweden, The Netherlands and Cuba. I apply a wide variety of methodologies: a) to approach health and infectious diseases (e.g. tuberculosis, brucellosis) I use macroscopic analysis, SEM, FTIR-ATR, stable isotope analyses in collagen and bioapatite and ancient DNA; b) to reconstruct diet, oral pathology and isotope fingerprinting; and c) to deal with activity and diagenesis, study of burial rite, XRF, FTIR-ATR and Pyrolisis GC/MS. I am currently intrigued about how all these methods applied to osteoarchaeological remains can help to elucidate identities and the relationship between humans and environment. I am good in including historical context and combining historical and archeological work. I am also deeply concerned with social awareness and media diffusion of research. I am confident that at present I can be considered a leader in Europe in combining the information on health status (paleopathology), culture of food (paleodiet) and burial environment (diagenesis, premortem/postmortem signals). h-index of 10, and i(10) of 10 in google scholar, Publish or Perish h=10, 32 cites/year (417 citations). H-index Scopus 7 (199 citations). Publications: 42 + 2 papers under review including one in Nature: 21 papers in international journals, 5 in national peer review journals, 16 book chapters (international including Colombia, UK), 2 conference proceedings (+3 in press), 2 reviewers (reseñas) and the co-authorship of a book. Editor of two Special Issues in Q1 journals “Iberian Paleodiet” in Anthropol Archaeol Sci (2019; Q1) and “Imperium sine fine” SI at Environmental Archaeology (on course; Q1). Eighteen papers in leading international journals (Q1: 18). Five papers on journals included in the Latindex, Dialnet groups C and D, with peer review. Organization of an international conference (2015) and five sessions in the EAA-2016;2018,2021 and LAC2020 conferences. A total of 57 presentations in national and international conferences, including 5 invited talks and acting as chair-person in 4 of them. More than 30 invited talks in workshops and seminars. Scientific committee in four international conferences. Working in 50 different archaeological sites from Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Finland, Holland, and Cuba among others.
