I obtained my PhD in geoarchaeology at the University of Tuebingen in January 2023 and am currently a Marie Curie post-doctoral fellow at the University of the Algarve, Portugal within the Interdisciplinary Center for Archaeology and the Evolution of Human Behaviour (ICArEHB). My current project (MicroAsh) focuses on reconstructing pyrotechnologies used by Middle and Later Stone Age hunter-gatherers in northern Malawi. More broadly, I am interested in the recursive relationship between prehistoric foragers and their environments. Through the interdisciplinary nature of my work I collaborate with specialists from various fields and have published in high impact journals such as Nature, Science Advances, and Quaternary Science Reviews. I see research in the lab and behind the computer as only one part of my job. Fieldwork, teaching and outreach are an integral part of my career since many years as well, both in the countries where I have been based as a researcher (Germany, Portugal) and in the field (e.g., Malawi).
