João Renato Sebastião holds a Doctorate in Mathematics, a Master's degree in Probability and Statistics, and a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics/Computer Science. He has been a faculty member at the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco (IPCB) since 1998 and currently serves as the Deputy Director of the School of Management of Idanha-a-Nova (ESGIN). He is also the President of the Technical-Scientific Council of ESGIN, a member of the General Council of IPCB, a Member of the Council of Representatives of ESGIN, and a member of other institutional bodies of IPCB. His research is conducted at the Centre for Mathematics and Applications at the University of Beira Interior (UBI), where he collaborates in the field of Extreme Value Theory. In addition to fundamental research activities, he has also engaged in applied research in collaboration with management researchers. He teaches courses in Mathematics and Statistics and collaborates as a researcher on various R&D projects at IPCB.
