Jan Wolf is a researcher focused on applying scientific knowledge to address practical challenges in public policy and regional planning. With a background in public policy, regional and urban planning, and sociology (he holds a PhD in Public Policy and a master degree in urban and Regional Planning from the University of Aveiro and a degree in Sociology from the University of the Beira Interior), as well as experience in scientific and applied projects related to spatial justice and adapting services to territorial and population changes, his work combines quantitative approaches, such as spatial analysis, with participatory methodologies and assessment of stakeholder and citizen preferences and perceptions. His research has explored issues of efficiency and equity in access to services, with a particular focus on the location and organization of educational and social services. In addition to contributing to collaborative projects like JUSTPLAN, which investigates sociospatial justice, he values the dissemination of practical tools to support policy decisions and the involvement of local stakeholders in the policy-making process. He has authored several articles in Scopus indexed journals, has participated in a considerable number research projects and cooperation projects that focused on the development of local and regional plans and policies.
