Graduated in Biomechanical Engineering and has a Master’s Degree of Science (MSc) in Product Design Engineering, both from ESTG, IPL. Has a Doctoral degree (PhD) in Technological Innovation which was awarded Cum Laude at the University of Girona, Spain with the thesis entitled “A Mechano-Perfusion Bioreactor for Tissue Engineering”. Is an Invited Lecturer at the School of Technology and Management (ESTG) and School of Health Sciences (ESSLei) of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (IPL). Was also an Invited Researcher at the Manchester Biomanufacturing Centre (MBC) of the University of Manchester, UK and a Research Fellow at the Centre for Rapid and Sustainable Product Development (CDRSP) of the IPL, Portugal. Was a Certified Trainer/Consultant at S3D, company located in Marinha Grande, Portugal. At S3D was responsible for the training in Additive Manufacturing, Reverse Engineering and Metrology in diverse fields of applications in the industry, such as Health, Additive Manufacturing, Plastic Injection, Moulds, Casting and others. He is part of an International Network of Experts in Sheet Metal applications promoted and certified by GOM GmbH. At CDRSP he was Coordinator of several workgroups (Virtual reality and Reverse Engineer group, Systems Design and Development group) and Technical Responsible for the Laboratories of Design and Computer Simulation Lab, Reverse Engineer and Virtual Reality Lab, Mechanical Technologies Lab and Systems Development Lab. Also collaborated in the development of medical applications of the Biofabrication Lab and was associated with the creation of the X-ray Spectroscopy Lab. Has also been a member of the organizing committees of the several international conferences events such as Progress in Digital and Physical Manufacturing Conference (ProDPM), International Conference on Advanced Research in Virtual and Physical Prototyping (VRAP), ECCOMAS thematic conference on Tissue Engineering (ICTE), Meeting of Synchrotron Users from Portugal and as well in three editions of the Advanced Course on Regenerative Medicine. Also co-organized the museum exhibit “THE BODY – Bionic, Movement and Medical Image” displayed at MIMO museum in Leiria. Involved in several research projects financed by agencies such as the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), Ciencia Y Tecnologia Para El Desarrollo (CYTED), Innovation Agency (ANI), PRODER, IAPMEI and the European Commission.
