My background in social interdisciplinary sciences (MPhil. Development Studies, PhD Economics), and my personal interests have directed my research towards the interactions between social and ecological systems in a variety of research fields, incl. marine spatial planning, wildlife tourism, protected areas, mobility, sustainability science, development studies, CC adaptation, transformation and art. Since Oct 2015 I am a postdoc at the ce3c Research Centre. There I have been involved in national and European projects: I was part of project coordination of ClimAdaPT.Local (climadapt-local.pt), a large-scale adaptation project, that co-developed 26 municipal adaptation strategies. January- September 2017 I was part of the project PLACARD (placard-network.eu), which aims to promote dialogues for improved integration of climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction. Within PLACARD my focus was directed towards creative ways of communicating science and facilitating dialogue. My postdoc Art for Adaptation (SFRH/BPD/115656/2016) researched on the potential to arts to contribute to alternative approaches to climate change and aims to provide tools for meaningful community engagement and climate change communication. During this 6-year project I have developed innovative research on the relationship between art and climate change adaptation and transformation, based on the assumption that successful adaptation occurs through processes of transformation.. I am lead of a working group of the Cost Action shift - social science and humanities for transformation and climate resilience. In my current project NBRACER - Nature Based Solutions for Atlantic Regional Climate Resilience (Horizon Horizon-MISS-2022-CLIMA-01) I am PI and task leader responsible to creative, innovative stakeholder engagement and capacity building.
