Shiva Saadatian holds a PhD in Sustainable Energy Systems (MIT-Portugal Program, University of Coimbra, 2022), a Master's in Energy for Sustainability with a focus on Sustainable Built Environment (University of Coimbra, 2014), and a first degree in Industrial Engineering from the AZAD University of Tehran (2008). Her PhD research aimed to investigate both full and streamlined Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) approaches to support the selection of window solutions to improve the life cycle environmental, economic, and social sustainability of European office buildings. In this context, she complemented the analysis by contributing to social impact assessment, exploring how design choices affect users and communities and offering a broader understanding of societal outcomes alongside environmental and economic performance. She has published 8 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals. Shiva has since dedicated her career to science and research advisory and management, focused on pre-award support. Currently, she works at the University of Coimbra (UC), being a research advisor for the Strategic Research Area "Climate, Energy and Mobility" and a Researcher at the Centre for Industrial Ecology (within ADAI-LAETA) of the University of Coimbra. In this role, she offers pre-award support to researchers across a range of scientific disciplines and career stages, from PhD students to experienced researchers. Her assistance extends to both researchers and the institution, encompassing the preparation of competitive research funding proposals, delivering lectures, advising on funding opportunities, and aiding the application process, including the technical review of proposals. Although formally aligned with the strategic area of Climate, Energy and Mobility, her advisory work spans diverse domains, particularly in Horizon Europe Pillar 2, including Cluster 2 (Culture, Creativity and Inclusive Society), Cluster 4 (Digital, Industry and Space), and Cluster 5 (Climate, Energy and Mobility), reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of societal and technological challenges. Specifically, for Horizon Europe, Shiva’s support portfolio covers grants such as ERC, Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions, Pillar 2 thematic calls, and the Widening Work Programme.
