Sofia Caçoilo Corticeiro

I have a PhD in Biology and over 14 years of experience in Forestry Research projects at both academic and corporative levels. Currently, I work at the University of Aveiro as Researcher of the ERA Chair BESIDE project financed by the European Union’s Horizon Europe and as Principal Researcher of the FirEProd Project, a FCT funding project that aims to assess the role of prescribed burning in forest fuel management and in fire risk reduction, and to evaluate the impact of prescribed fire on soil quality and forest productivity. I am also collaborating in other projects, developing R&D activities on forest management and post-fire forest recovery. I am the UA team coordinator of the Soil Mission European Project, TERRASAFE. I am supervisor or co-supervisor of three master thesis, two at the University of Aveiro and one at UTAD. Previously, I worked as Principal Researcher of two R&D projects at RAIZ, The Navigator Company, in the areas of Forestry Ecophysiology and Forest Management. At RAIZ and at UA, I also collaborated as researcher in several other project related to Sustainable Forest Management and Post-fire Forest Recovery. Moreover, I undertook consulting actions in national and European projects, participated in the elaboration of FCT, P2020 and H2020 funding proposals, and established several partnerships towards national and international institutions.
