Jorge Barroca-Ferreira has a graduation and a master's degree in Biomedical Sciences (University of Beira Interior, Covilhã - Portuga). Currently, he is a Ph.D student in Biomedicine and also detains a FCT (Foundation for Science and Technology) individual doctoral fellowship. He develops his research activity in CICS-UBI - Health Sciences Research Centre (Covilhã - Portugal) in collaboration with UCIBIO - Applied Molecular Biosciences Unit (Lisbon - Portugal). Throughout his academic journey, we was also a member of biomedical sciences students board and doctoral students committee of CICS-UBI, where he had the opportunity to be a member of the organizing comittee of VIII National Days of Biomedical Sciences, XIII- and XIV-CICS-UBI Annual Symposiums and III Health Sciences Research Congress: Towards Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Jorge Barroca-Ferreira matured his research experience by developing several hands-on labotory and analyitical skills and working in a multidisciplinary team. He is also a meticulous, rigorous, determined, organized, self-critical, argumentative and problem-solving oriented person. Currently, he works on the biosynthesis and purification of the STEAP1 protein to further understand the underlying mechanisms of its interaction with other biomolecules in cancer microenvironment and to disclose its strucutral resolution.
