Bibiana Correia is a PhD student of Biosciences with specialization in Molecular and Cellular Biology at Department of Life Sciences, University of Coimbra, Portugal. She is at the last year of developing her PhD thesis at the Biology of Reproduction and Stem Cells Group of CIBB (Centro de Inovação em Biomedicina e Biotecnologia). Bibiana completed her bachelor degree in Biology in 2016 at the University of Coimbra and has joined CIBB’s Biology of Reproduction and Stem Cells Group in 2015, where she enrolled in an traineeship and later developed and completed her Master’s thesis in stem cell biology entitled “Quiet! They May Be at Rest: Metabolic Regulation of Paused Pluripotency”. During the course of her specialization in stem cell biology, she participated, as teaching assistant, at the “Frontiers of Stem Cells, Cancer and Reproduction Workshop” at the Hashemite University, Jordan (2018). Additionally, in the beginning of her PhD she attended the IV Modular Laboratory Animal Course, hosted by CIBB. Despite her enrolment in internships and traineeships in Microbiology early on during her bachelor’s, throughout her scientific development she has been interested in two main research areas: stem cell biology and metabolism, and recently biology of reproduction, focusing on embryonic diapause and its induction. In the last 4 years, she has been involved in some teaching activities at the Differentiation & Development course of the Bachelor's Degree in Biology and at the Biology of Reproduction course of the Master’s Degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology, both of the University of Coimbra. She learned and developed techniques for gamete collection, gamete and embryo cryopreservation, and in vitro fertilization in mice at the Gulbenkian Institute for Science, at the Mice Animal Facility. She has published 4 peer-reviewed research articles in international journals, 2 as first author, is also the first author in 1 review article and 2 protocol book chapters. Her work has been presented in 10 poster and oral communications at national and international meetings.
