Susana Gonçalves, PhD in Psychology by the University of Coimbra is Coordinating Professor at the Polytechnic of Coimbra and Director of the Centre for the Study and Advancement of Pedagogy in Higher Education (CINEP). She is a researcher at NIEFI, the Research Unit for Education, Training and Intervention (Escola Superior de Educação do Instituto Politécnico de Coimbra) and she teaches in the area of Educational Psychology and Intercultural Education. She is a member of Children’s Identity and Citizenship in Europe Association, where she has served as Secretary General from September 2007 to September 2019. As a former Coordinator if international affairs and an intense research activity in international teams she’s aware of European young people and methods, strategies and good proactive in international and intercultural education and education for active and global citizenship.She is experienced in higher education in the fields of education, psychology and intercultural communication. She is a member of the Comparative Study Group in Interculturality (CSGI/GECI) (Grupo de Estudos Comparados em Interculturalidade of the SEC-SPCE (Comparative Education Section of the Portuguese Society of Educational Science) since its creation in 2014. Her present research interest are focused on the advancement of teaching and learning in Higher education, art in education an citizenship and comparative education in Higher Education. Some of her most recent works are the edited books Art and intercultural dialogue (Sense, 2016), The challenges of diversity and intercultural encounters (2013, Routledge) and Intercultural Policies and Education (2011, Peter Lang). Her present work as editor in the book “Art in diverse social settings (expected in 2020). She is also a visual artist and a photographer.
