Jorge Grenha Teixeira is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management at the University of Porto and serves as the Director of the Master in Services Engineering and Management at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto. He holds a Ph.D in Industrial Engineering and Management, a MSc. in Services Engineering and Management and a Bsc. in Economics, from University of Porto (Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Economics). His PhD dissertation earned a Cum Laude distinction in 2018. His research interests span service design, customer experience, and service ecosystems, with a strong focus on sustainability, and technology-enabled services. His research is supported by qualitative methods. He is actively involved in several research projects. Since 2023 and 2024, he has been participating in CircularTech and Produtech, two PRR-funded project. Since 2021, he has been engaged in FIRE-RES, an H2020 project focused on wildfire resilience. His research extends to A POsitive Energy CITY Transformation Framework (2019–ongoing), another H2020 project.He also contributed to rePLANt (2020–2023), a project dedicated to implementing collaborative strategies for integrated forest and fire management, funded by P2020/Compete. In the past, he was involved in SDIN – Service Design for Innovation (2015–2018), an H2020-funded initiative, as well as projects such as SAL – Service Assisted Living (2013–2015), RSE – Registo de Saúde Electrónico (2012–2013), and Projeto Zon Service Engineering (2010–2013). He has published 15 Q1 articles in international research journals such as the Journal of Service Research, Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, Journal of Service Management, AMS Review, Journal of Service Theory and Practice, Journal of Cleaner Production and British Journal of Educational Technology. He received several academic distinctions, including the Highly Commended Paper Award for his 2023 article on gamification in the customer journey, published in Journal of Service Theory and Practice, and the Top Cited Paper Award for his research on emergency remote education experiences during COVID-19, published in British Journal of Educational Technology. His contributions as a reviewer were recognized with the Best Reviewer Award from Journal of Service Theory and Practice in 2021.
