Cristina Gil

Cristina Gil é Professora Adjunta na Escola Superior de Educação do Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal (ESE-IPS), co-coordenadora da Licenciatura em Tradução e Interpretação de Língua Gestual Portuguesa (TILGP) e co-fundadora do Deaf Studies Lab (CECC). Doutorada em Estudos de Cultura (Faculdade de Ciências Humanas – Universidade Católica Portuguesa, 2020), com uma investigação transdisciplinar nos domínios dos Estudos de Cultura, Estudos de Utopia e Estudos Surdos com a qual cunhou o neologismo Deaftopia para designar representações e discursos utópicos nas Comunidades Surdas e os Povos de Língua Gestual em todo o mundo. Este trabalho foi desenvolvido com uma bolsa de doutoramento integral da Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT, 2016-2020). Durante o doutoramento, foi investigadora visitante na Gallaudet University, em Washington, EUA. Cristina Gil possui ainda um Diploma de Estudos Avançados em Línguas, Literaturas e Culturas, com especialização em Estudos Culturais (Escola de Ciências Sociais e Humanas – NOVA FCSH, 2014), um Mestrado em Comunidades Surdas, Educação e Línguas Gestuais (Universidad de Barcelona, 2010) e uma Licenciatura em Tradução e Interpretação de Língua Gestual Portuguesa (ESE-IPS, 2007), durante a qual participou no Programa Erasmus na Högskolan Väst, em Trollhättan, Suécia. Em 2013, foi reconhecida pela Universidade do Minho como formadora acreditada na área da Educação de Surdos e Educação Especial. Os seus interesses de investigação centram-se na diversidade humana, com especial enfoque nas fronteiras disciplinares entre os Estudos Surdos, História Surda, Culturas Surdas, epistemologias e ontologias surdas, bem como nos Estudos da Interpretação e Tradução de Línguas Gestuais. ¿ Contactos: cristina.gil@ese.ips.pt; cristinagil8@gmail.com. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Cristina Gil is an Adjunct Professor at the School of Education – Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal (ESE-IPS), co-coordinator of the Portuguese Sign Language Interpretation and Translation Program (TILGP), and co-founder of the Deaf Studies Lab (CECC). She holds a PhD in Culture Studies (Faculty of Human Sciences – Catholic University of Portugal, 2020), with transdisciplinary research in Culture Studies, Utopian Studies, and Deaf Studies, in which she coined the neologism Deaftopia to describe utopian representations and discourses within Deaf communities and Sign Language Peoples worldwide. This work was supported by a full doctoral scholarship from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT, 2016–2020). During her PhD, she was a visiting scholar at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. (USA). Cristina Gil also holds a Diploma of Advanced Studies in Languages, Literatures and Cultures, with a specialization in Cultural Studies (School of Social Sciences and Humanities – NOVA FCSH, 2014), a Master's in Deaf Communities, Education and Signed Languages (Universidad de Barcelona, 2010), and a Bachelor's degree in Portuguese Sign Language Interpretation and Translation (ESE-IPS, 2007), during which she participated in the Erasmus Program at Högskolan Väst, in Trollhättan, Sweden. In 2013, she was accredited by the University of Minho as a certified instructor in Deaf Education and Special Needs Education. Her research interests focus on human diversity, especially at the disciplinary intersections of Deaf Studies, Deaf History, Deaf Cultures, Deaf epistemologies and ontologies, and Signed Language Interpretation and Translation Studies.
