Vanessa Lopes Letria graduated in Marine Environmental Biology (BSc) in 2007, obtained an MSc in Marine Ecology in 2012 and completed a PhD degree in Marine Sciences at the Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa in 2018. Since the completion of her PhD, she is the leading post-doctoral researcher in the FCT project EVOTOX. Vanessa directly participated in 2 FCT projects, securing 425K euros , as a team member. She has recently been awarded a research grant by SPECO, as Co-PI, to study the effects of ocean deoxygenation on cephalopods' physiology and cognition, complementing the research proposed here. Since 2015, Vanessa is a board member (treasurer) of the Instituto Português de Malacologia, part of the Editorial board of the journal Portugala. In addition, Vanessa organized 3 National Congresses of Malacology (in 2015, 2018 and 2021), and she is a member of the organizing committee of the forthcoming CIAC2022 Cephalopod International Advisory Council Conference (200+ participants). Vanessa is also a member of the organizing committee of the program "Bringing schools to climate change science", participating in the education of students of all ages (6-18 yo) to climate change science, having over 50 educational activities done. Vanessa is invited, since 2010, to teach several courses (totalling circa 600 students) to BSc students (Marine Biology) and MSc students (Marine Biology and Complementary studies in marine ecology). She has mentored 2 BSc students, 3 MSc students, 5 Erasmus+ interns. She was the main supervisor of an MSc thesis and co-supervisor in another. Vanessa has published 21 scientific research articles in international peer-reviewed journals, such as Chemosphere, Proceedings of the Royal Society B and Marine Environmental Research (H-Index 12, 445+ citations). She also published 3 book chapters, and she is a reviewer for Neuroscience Letters and Frontiers in Marine Science. Moreover, Vanessa is part of the international collaboration network CephsInAction - COST-Action FA1301 (European Cooperation in Science and Technology). Within this network, Vanessa led the publication of a best practices guide in cephalopod research and care (published in Invertebrate Neuroscience). Vanessa is now seeking to develop her work on cephalopods to contribute significantly to the knowledge of the impacts that may be elicited on these important marine organisms by climate change in the future.
