Anthony P. Moreira holds a first degree in Marine Biology and Biotechnology - Aquaculture and Fisheries, by ESTM - IPL (Portugal). And a MSc degree in Applied Biology - Marine Biology from the University of Aveiro (Portugal). Concluded is Ph.D. (October 2018) on the - Comparative performance of Crassostrea species in Portugal and Brazil: climate change implications, funded by FCT (SFRH/BD/93107/2013), and performed at the University of Aveiro in collaboration with UNESP (Brazil). After his Ph.D., he participated in the project Symbiolite: "A novel microbial-algal calcification process driven by coral symbiotic algae: Structure, function, ecological role and evolutionary significance" as a post-doc fellow (9 months) at UA. During 2020, he performed research activities within the project "CtLight - Effects of light on the photobiology and growth of the commercially valuable macroalgae Codium tomentosum" as Assistant Researcher at UA. He is now Junior Researcher at UA after obtaining a Scientific Employment Stimulus Grant (FCT CEEC 2018) to work on Drug Delivery System development to mitigate the impacts of important pathologies affecting shellfish aquaculture (6-year contract) started December 2020 (CEECIND/01422/2018). Scientific outputs include 20 research articles published in ISI journals (Scopus H-index 15 > 500 citations). His current line of research aims at exploring microalgae derived biomaterials, namely biosilica, as drug delivery and microencapsulating platforms for use in aquaculture. Since 2020 is responsible for the conceptualisation, development and direction of a curricular unit - Aquaculture Production Systems at UA - Master level; 6 ECTS, >100 contact hours, 20-30 students per semester/year).
