Ana C Silva (ACS) completed her PhD in Biochemistry in 2013 (University of Coimbra), and holds a Master's degree in Cell Biology (2007, University of Coimbra) and a BA in Biology (2001, University of Évora). Her post-graduate studies were conducted in the field of neurodegenerative diseases, during which ACS acquired relevant knowledge about neurogenesis and neuronal differentiation, from working with cell lines, primary-derived neuronal stem cell cultures, and animal models. For the past 13 years, she has been working in toxicology and immunology, which has increased her scientific knowledge and expertise regarding inflammation and oxidative stress signaling pathways. She managed to see her scientific expertise converge by working as a contracted investigator in a financed project that aimed at studying the therapeutic potential of electrophilic skin sensitizers and Nrf2 activators for Alzheimer's disease (AD) treatment. In 2022, ACS received the highly competitive international grant Colgate-Palmolive Grant for Alternative Research and private national funding to conduct a project to validate the benefits of thermal water intake and SPA treatments. Overall, ACS participates/d in 16 financed projects as a Contracted Researcher (1), as a fellow researcher (6), as a team member (7). Currently, she is the Principal Investigator of 2 projects, 1 contracted as an Invited Auxiliary Researcher. ACS published 34 articles, mainly in Q1 international peer-reviewed journals, 8 as first author and 1 as senior author, and was a corresponding author of 4 publications. Authored or co-authored 8 conference abstracts and 3 book chapters, holding an H-index of 13 and > 300 citations (https://www.webofscience.com/). ACS actively contributed to 4 provisional patent applications and 2 International patents. Have participated in more than 70 national and international meetings (as author/co-author in 44 panels and 27 oral communications presented, 4 by invitation), and was a member of the organizing committee of an international meeting. Have considerable teaching experience, assisting in laboratory practice classes and lecturing seminars, in bachelor's and master graduate courses, and tutoring (> 20) ungraduated and graduated students. Was supervisor or co-supervisor of 5 master theses (3 concluded and 2 ongoing). Currently, she participates in the scientific committee of (13) indexed international journals and (1) scientific meeting, has been a jury member in academic degree proofs (5) and fellowships acquisition concourses (4).
