Since 2021 I am a visiting assistant professor of Anthropology at ISCSP (University of Lisbon) where I teach in different courses. I am now especially interested in Public Anthropology, Anthropology of Religion and global economy and development. I am also interested in graphic ethnography as I also dedicate myself professionally to drawing. I hold a MA in Philosophy from the University of Turin, Italy. I dedicated my research to African studies, particularly to African religious studies. My first experience of fieldwork was in Kenya, in 2003. In 2005 I volunteered in Mozambique, where I worked in two NGOs for two years, always in urban contexts (Maputo and Maputo's outskirts). After this experience in International Cooperation I resumed my studies and moved to Lisbon in 2007, where I completed a PhD in 2013 at ICS, University of Lisbon, with a dissertation on the healing practices of Zion churches in Maputo. During the last four years I have devoted myself professionally to drawing and illustration, practising both activities in dialog with ethnographic and anthropologic principles. I have had the opportunity to exhibit my artistic work in Portugal, Spain and Italy. I have also drawn on my personal ethnographic data collected in Maputo (Mozambique), following the current of ethnography-based art. In October 2017, I opened my personal art studio in Lisbon, a space to collaborate with, and exhibit, other illustrators and artists. In 2018 I started my collaboration with Professor Anna Fedele (CRIA-ISCTE-IUL), collecting ethnographic data in Lisbon for the FCT research project: ¿Fatima, one century after the apparitions: Pilgrimage, gender and lived religion" and conducting qualitative interviews with devotees of Fatima from African Portuguese-speaking countries. Since May 2019, I have been working at CRIA-ISCTE as a post doctorate researcher for the HERA project HERILIGION, "The Heritagization of Religion and the Sacralization of Heritage in Contemporary Europe", again under the supervision of Anna Fedele (CRIA-ISCTE), interviewing African pilgrims and members of the Hindu and Muslim communities of Lisbon for the case study of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima (Portugal). I then collaborated as a post-doctoral researcher on the organization of the final exhibition of the project HERILIGION: "Enchanted Places, Heritage Spaces", hold at the National Museum of Ethnology, in Lisbon (January 31 - October 2020). http://www.patrimoniocultural.gov.pt/pt/agenda/exhibitions/exposicao-lugares-encantados-espacos-de-patrimonio/. As researcher of CRIA, I co-coordinated the project funded by the Lisbon city council "Pequena Oficina de Antropologia", a project with a primary school.
