Soraia Caetano, finished her BSc in Celular and Molecular Biology by Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia (FCT NOVA). The MSc in Biotechnology was awarded in 2011 by Universidade de Aveiro (UA), and Soraia completed her PhD in Biology in 2017/07/25 by Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica António Xavier (ITQB NOVA). Soraia published 7 articles in peer reviewed journals, two of which as first or co-first author, presented her work in five national and international scientific meetings, and has received two travel awards to attend international congresses. Soraia did her PhD in the Molecular Biology field, with emphasis in regulation of gene expression of yeast cellular response to stress conditions. Soraia has participated in national and international projects, which funded her research. During her PhD, a five months period was spend abroad, at Prof. Patrick Van Dijck Laboratory, KU Leuven, Belgium. Also, Soraia was a member of the COST Action CA15133 entitled ¿The Biogenesis of Iron-sulfur Proteins: from Cellular Biology to Molecular Aspects (FeSBionet)¿ being part of the Work Group 1 (¿Functional analysis of the cellular machineries for the maturation of Fe/S proteins and the link to human diseases¿). Soraia also developed pedagogic skills, being a tutor of several bachelor and master students during her PhD studies, and co-supervised a bachelor student in 2018. Due to her interest in the mechanisms underlying host-pathogen interaction, Soraia successfully applied for an international call for a Postdoc position at Prof. Maria Mota laboratory, Instituto de Medicina Molecular (iMM), Universidade de Lisboa, thus in June 2019 Soraia started to develop her Postdoctoral studies at Prof. Maria Mota lab regarding the project "Hepatic metabolism driving Plasmodium replication". Later last year, Soraia transitioned to Miguel Prudêncio's laboratory, Instituto de Medicina Molecular (iMM), Universidade de Lisboa, being now applying her knowledge and skills by being an integrating part of the projects "Plasmodium infection of 3D hepatic cell cultures" funded by Instituto de Biologia Experimental e Tecnológica and "Whole-organism vaccines against P. falciparum and P. vivax malaria with enhanced efficacy and scope" funded by "la Caixa" Foundation.
