Marco Peres (MP) obtained his degree in Physics Engineering in 2004. MP continued his studies at the same institution, achieving a Master's degree in Physics in 2007 and a Doctorate in Physics Engineering in 2014, with the defense of the thesis "Study of defects in ZnO thin films deposited by Rf-Sputtering". Currently, MP holds the position of Auxiliary Researcher in the Department of Nuclear Sciences and Engineering at the Instituto Superior Técnico of the University of Lisbon. His research line covers different areas such as the modification and characterization of materials by ion beams, optical properties and optical spectroscopy, and electrical characterization of optical centers, particularly in wide bandgap semiconductors. MP's scientific activity is developed in two research units classified as excellent, at INESC Microsystems and Nanotechnologies (INESC MN) and the Institute for Plasmas and Nuclear Fusion (IPFN). Particularly, associated with his integration into INESC-MN, he has also developed a strong activity in the field of microfabrication since 2021. Throughout his scientific career after completing his doctorate in 2014, MP has participated in more than 10 research projects, demonstrating his ability to lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary groups. These projects vary in topic and discipline, reflecting the versatility and depth of his knowledge. MP's active participation in these projects not only reinforces his reputation as a dynamic researcher but also underlines his commitment to innovation and multidisciplinarity. With more than 100 publications in international impact journals with more than 1000 citations (H-index is 21), MP demonstrates a productive and influential scientific career. In addition to the publications, the quality of his work has been internationally recognized by four Poster awards in international conferences and by the number of conference presentations.
