Diogo Santos completed the integrated master’s in biomedical engineering from the University of Minho in 2021 where he is currently a PhD student. His main research interests are in the field of central nervous system regenerative medicine, specifically in studying the impact of stem cell secretome in spinal cord injury. Over the last years he has gained experience with cell culture, secretome proteomic analysis, in vitro and in vivo models of central nervous system trauma, immunohistochemistry, protein engineering and microscopy. In his current PhD project, he is engineering the extracellular vesicles from mesenchymal stem cells for better targeting to the spinal cord injury site. He has published 6 articles, presented 2 oral communications and 7 conference posters, and he has been part of the organizing committee of the 12th International Meeting of the Portuguese Society of Stem Cells and Cell Therapies.
