Joana Mestre Costa is an Integrated Researcher at the Center for Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the University of Aveiro (CLLC-UA) and, as a translator, has participated in multidisciplinary and interinstitutional research projects in the area of Portuguese Scientific-Literary History and Philosophy. Portuguese Scientific Literature of Latin Expression is currently her fundamental research interest, although, as demonstrated by national and international communications and publications, her areas of activity include Latin Literature, Translation and Scientific and Technical Terminology, Portuguese Language for Specific Purposes. Joana Mestre Costa has a degree in Teaching Portuguese, Latin and Greek at the University of Aveiro (2005); having subsequently obtained a PhD Scholarship from the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), she obtained a PhD in Literature from the same institution (2013). In 2011, she began teaching Curricular Units within the scope of teaching Portuguese Language for Specific Purposes at the Institute of Higher Education for Accountancy and Administration of the University of Aveiro (ISCA-UA), where she is currently a Guest Adjunct Professor. Cumulatively, since 2016, she has been Deputy Director of the Higher Professional Training Course in Sales Management and Marketing; more recently, since 2022, she has a place in the School Council of ISCA-UA. Due to her PhD project centred on the epigrammatic production of Marcus Valerius Martialis, it was in the Literary field, especially Latin Literature, that she began to develop her scientific activity, starting in 2007. She explored the literary production of the 1st century, but also , reception and emulation, finally expanding her action to Portuguese Literature, particularly that between the 16th and 18th centuries. In parallel, through an informal scientific collaboration in a research project in History and Philosophy of Science, dealing with the studies of João de Loureiro, Portuguese Scientific Literature of Latin Expression would, after 2010, integrate and complement her activity . Participation in the project "Medical art and scientific intelligibility in the Archipathologia of Filipe Montalto" (integrated in the Centre for the Humanities (CHAM) and supported by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (FCG)), under the responsibility of Adelino Cardoso (principal investigator), confirmed her predisposition to, through translation, textual analysis, commentary and study of sources, participate in the establishment of Portuguese Scientific-Literary history and culture.
